This is our design process
We bring a fresh perspective and 20 years’ experience of how to design a space that efficiently and elegantly achieves your objectives.
Start with function.
Key objectives:
What would we like to use the space for?
How many people will it facilitate?
Are there any items that may need to be integrated, such as appliance cables?
Any limitations:
How the human traffic flows through the space?
Location of existing walls, doors and windows?
Where are services such as power, data and lighting located?
Match the form.
What is the current styling and age of the house?
Our more classic traditional shaker-styled cabinetry works well in Perth’s older period homes and also newer Hamptons-styled builds.
Contemporary modern looking homes can call for a more minimalist approach, and our flat, flush cabinetry is often more suited.
How is your home furnished?
Consider existing features and materials such as finished timber, paint colours and natural light
How to create the right aesthetic?
Where to add balance or symmetry to what we design and build
Defining the correct proportions in a set space
The designed space.
Once we have agreed the function and the form, we apply our 20 years’ experience to work with you in co-designing a practical and sophisticated space.
We design and draft all our own work and will provide either hand-drafted or CAD architectural drawings, depending on the size and scope of each project.
Custom Fitted Cabinetry becomes part of the room, when proportionally correct, the cabinetry adds volume to a room making the whole space seem larger and more spacious - this is especially the case when building up to the ceiling and incorporating the existing cornicing detail.
Free-standing “off the shelf” cabinetry can not be designed proportionally to fit every room and it often creates its own dark shadows around the sides and on top. These shadows give the appearance of the item intruding into the space, and making the space feel smaller. They are, however, much cheaper :-)
